Qube announces film distribution package for producers which discounts VPF for new releases by 50%
Qube Cinema announced a special COVID-19 relief plan for filmmakers to help release movies post the lockdown. This special VPF package will help bring more new movie releases to theatres by reducing the financial risk and creating revenue generation opportunities.
The pandemic has brought cinema production and distribution to a grinding halt for over 7 months. As different industries are slowly resuming business, the cinema business is set do so as well. Qube believes that it is imperative that all stakeholders in the industry support each other during the revival, so the focus of the COVID package is to assist producers and distributors partially overcome the adverse financial impact caused by the pandemic.
To help filmmakers release their films with ease, Qube has announced that the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) for all new movies will be discounted to 50% from the current price list for both DCI and E-cinema, for a minimum billing of 7 shows. The discount is applicable until December 31 2020 from the opening date of theatres in the respective states. For all library titles, the VPF will be free; with only the delivery charges being applicable.
The goal of special packages like these is to ease the impact of the lockdown. Commenting on the expected scope and impact of the plan, Prabhu BMA, Senior Vice President – Mastering & Content Services said, “Though the impact has been adverse with the entire eco-system of the cinema business, we as part of the industry want to pass on whatever is possible from our side to revive the industry and help producers release their long-awaited films.
